Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter is a well-known American actress, producer and director. Her work has been recognized for her roles in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. The film Piano was a huge success and won her many awards and an Oscar. The path to acting began with Broadway and she worked on a wide range of Broadway as well as Off Broadway assignments. Acting has always been her interest. In the fifth grade she acted as Helen Keller. Her mumps left her deaf and blind in one ear, but she refused to let that hinder her progress as an actor. In her early years, she took classes in drama at college and moved in New York City from Pittsburgh to follow her dreams. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and the two collaborated on Broadway Crimes of the Heart which was Hunter's debut film. Hunter relocated to Los Angeles and tried to secure the roles in films. The film, Swing Shift, she landed an appearance as a supporting character. Since then she has appeared in a variety of TV shows and films in more than a quarter century. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is also the recipient of her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
